Missouri Farms Dairy, Inc. (MFD) is a new generation business formed by over 150 farmers living throughout Missouri.
The dairy facility, located in Southwest Missouri, was acquired in 2004.
The dairy facility was renovated to include three freestall barns, a 32 stall rotary parlor, nutrient management system, and a feed barn.
Missouri Farms Dairy is focused on promoting multiple sectors of the agricultural industry.
In addition to providing investment returns for the members, MFD supports:
1. Soybeans by increasing the demand for soybean meal
2. Dairy in Missouri by proving large scale operations can succeed and by
possibly attracting more dairies
3. Ethanol by increasing the market for distiller's grains
It is the philosophy of the members of MFD that the latest technology will be employed to ensure the comfort of the cows while maintaining a productive and profitable enterprise.
Ultimately, Missouri Farms Dairy will consist of 1260 head of Holstein cattle with 1,100 being milked three times per day.
Numerous officials have visited MFD including the third most powerful member of the U.S. House of Representatives, Roy Blunt, the Missouri Director of Agriculture, Fred Ferrell, Missouri State University Agriculture Department Head, Dr. Anson Elliott, and Jasper County Commissioner, Jim Honey.
